Tiger Woods Girlfriend Lindsey Vonn Vow: Will Return To Slopes By 2014 Olympics, Claims “I Have Plenty Of Time To Be Ready For Sochi” [VIDEO]

Lindsey Vonn vows to be ready for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia next February after suffering a devastating leg injury early this month.

Vonn, a world class skier and the alleged girlfriend of pro-golfer Tiger Woods, has won four World Cup Championships as well as the gold medal in downhill skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and vows to appear in the next Olympic games.

The vow comes after a shocking crash at the Alpine skiing world championships in Austria on Feb. 5. Vonn tore her ACL and MCL and fractured her tibia, a bone in her right leg, according to the NY Post.

Vonn appeared on the Today show on Monday morning, where she told the hosts, “Right now my goal is to be back for 2014 in Sochi. Honestly, in a worst-case scenario, if I trained a week before the Games, I’d be fine. I have plenty of time to be ready for Sochi.”

This appearance marked her first televised interview since the violent ski accident that shocked the public.

The 28-year-old described the moments after the injury, but stated that she knew that she’d be able to return to the slopes.

“I initially thought it was going to be worse. There was just so much pain that I couldn’t quite tell where exactly it was coming from,” Vonn said.

She continued, “I knew what was wrong with me within five minutes of getting there, so everything happened pretty quick. I didn’t think it was going to be the end of my career.”

The accident had an unexpected positive result, however, in that it brought to light Vonn’s close personal relationship with professional golfer Tiger Woods.

After her injury a few weeks ago, Vonn was photographed getting into Tiger Woods’s private jet in Austria. Woods sent the jet after Lindsey Vonn’s devastating crash and knee injury in Salzburg, Austria.

The two were reportedly seeing each other for weeks prior to the accident, during which Vonn gave Tiger Woods’s children a skiing lesson.

Vonn has criticized the race jury’s decision to go on with the event despite dangerously foggy conditions and soft snow. She said in a Friday teleconference, “I don’t think the jury made the right call. The fog came in and delayed the start of the race. When I was at the start, I was ready to go, but I had no idea what the course conditions were. I inspected the course at 8 am and I ran the course at about 3:15.”

She continued to say that by the time she skied down the slopes, the conditions had deteriorated to the extreme, to the extent that she “didn’t think it was safe.”

However, Vonn maintains that she will definitely get back to skiing by the 2014 Olympics.

“I know I can [return without fear]. That’s just who I am. I feel like I have a lot more left to do.”
