Alfonso Soriano Returning To Yankees? 'Open To A Trade'

Alfonso Soriano says he is "open to a trade if the Yankees approach."

After the New York Yankees' centerfielder Curtis Granderson broke his arm while at bat for the first time during spring training, the Yankees have been looking for a replacement.

Granderson will be out for a month and rumors have begun to fly that former New York Yankee Alfonso Soriano will be returning to the team.

Currently Soriano plays for the Chicago Cubs but The Inquisitir reports "Chicago Cubs left fielder and the Cubs have been looking to deal the highly paid power hitter for about three years now. Soriano also has a no-trade clause that allows him to veto a trade to any team he doesn't want to go to."

Soriano played for the Yankees from 1998 to 2003; the Yankees traded Soriano to the Texas Rangers in 2004.

At the Cubs spring training facility in Arizona Soriano told reporters that he is comfortable in Chicago, "I'm feeling comfortable here. I believe in this team. This year, I hope everybody stays healthy and we have a good April and see what happens."
But if the Yankees made an offer, "I don't want to say no, I want to think about it first and see what happens."

He added that's the team that opened the doors for me in the big leagues. It was a long time ago," he said. "I don't know. It happened today I don't know if they want to call or not, If they call to me, I have to think about it. I want to think about it. I am 37 years old so I have to think about first and see what's good for me and the team, and my family, too."
If Soriano were to return to the Yankees he would add serious ammunition to their line up. With Granderson injured and Nick Swisher signed to the Cleveland Indians, the Yankees need a power hitter.

Speculation about whether or not Soriano will return to the Yankees is all anyone has at the moment. The one thing that is certain is The Cubs won't want to trade Soriano to any team with out being offered a great deal.
