Gillian Anderson To Appear In Pilot Episode Of NBC Show; Conspiracy Drama-Thriller Resembles 'X-Files'

Gillian Anderson will appear in a pilot episode for an upcoming Rand Ravich drama On NBC, adding another listing to her impressive IMDB catalog.

Anderson, made famous by playing Agent Scully in the hit sci-fi TV show "X-Files," has been confirmed for the show, according to Reuters.

Anderson will be appearing with Rachael Taylor, recently recognized for ABC's "666 Park Avenue."

Gillian Anderson's new gig strangely resembles the sci-fi series that made her famous.

Anderson's yet-to-be-named drama-thriller also covers federal agents exploring conspiracy theories, though there has been no mention of aliens as of yet.

The NBC pilot concerns an international conspiracy that draws in power players from Washington.

Cinema Blend described the series as a drama centered on a kidnapping conspiracy with political ties.

In the pilot, a puppeteer brings everyone from CEOs to the U.S. President to their knees by threatening their prized possessions. The unlikely group of power brokers, the FBI and a rookie secret service agent must work together to unravel the mystery and reclaim their lives.

Anderson will play Meg Fitch, a woman raising her estranged sister's daughter. The estranged sister is a career-focused Secret Service agent, played by Rachael Taylor.

When the President's son is kidnapped, the boy's classmates, including the agent's daughter, are abducted as well. Anderson's and Taylor's characters must overcome their troubled past and work together to solve the conspiracy.

The TV show is written and executive produced by Ravich and is a project by 20th Century Fox Television.

A return by Gillian Anderson to the small screen is long overdue. Her last major television lead was in the "X-Files" series.

Since "The X-Files" Ended in 2002, Anderson has appeared on a few British TV productions like "Bleak House," "Great Expectations" and "The Fall."
