Janet Jackson Married to Wissam Al Mana Last Year in Secret, 'In a Quiet, Private, and Beautiful Ceremony'

Janet Jackson revealed that she married billionaire businessman Wissam Al Mana last year. The singer confirmed this through a statement posted on her website.

"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," the couple told Entertainment Tonight. "Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony." There was speculation of Al Mana to splash out million for a lavish ceremony, including of flying Jackson's large family to Qatar aboard private jets.

The couple adds, "Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities."

"We would appreciate that our privacy is respected and that we are allowed this time for celebration and joy," the two said in their statement. Singed off their note, "With love, Wissam and Janet."

The couple was reported to have been engaged at the end of December by Us Weekly, suggesting plans for a lavish spring wedding. There were speculation in the United Arab Emirates media in October that the two were engaged and that Jackson was planning to convert to Islam, according to the New York Daily News.

This is Jackson's third marriage she was previously wed to James DeBarge and Rene Elizondo Jr. The previous marriage to fellow singer DeBarge was annulled in 1985. The second marriage to dancer, songwriter and director Elizondo in 1991 was kept a secret until their divorce in 2000.
