Aly Raisman Confirmed On Dancing With The Stars 2013 Cast; Phelps Congratulates On Twitter

Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman will be competing on Dancing With The Stars, or DWTS, this coming season. Raisman expressed her excitement to compete and accepted Phelps's congratulations on Twitter.

This will be the 16th season of the ABC series.

Aly Raisman's U.S. Olympic Gymnast comrade Shawn Johnson won the 8th season of Dancing With the Stars. Fans of Gymnastics are sure to have high expectations for Raisman.

Raisman doesn't seem fazed by the pressure just yet.

She recently tweeted about how excited she was for the opportunity to appear on the show alongside her confirmed partner, Mark Ballas.

She said, "WOW thank you all for the support! I am beyond excited to have @MarkBallas as a partner! We've had 2 rehearsals & it was awesome. I love it"

Twitter users and other Olympic athletes have reacted happily about the announcement.

World record holder and Olympic superstar Michael Phelps congratulated Raisman on Twitter, saying, "Congrats to @aly_raisman for being on dancing with the stars!!! Pumped to watch the upcoming season now!"

The full cast list of Dancing With The Stars has been announced, according to Fox

Other sports stars that will dance in the news season include ice skater Dorothy Hamill, boxer Victor Ortiz, and fresh out of the Super Bowl Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

Dancing With The Stars will also feature some singers as competitors this year.

Wynonna Judd will dance with partner Dovolani, winner of season 15. Judd is famous for songs "To Be Loved By You" and "I Saw the Light", and has won five Grammy awards with her vocals.

Former "American Idol" contestant Kellie Pickler will appear on the show, and is the first Idol star to make the competition show crossover to DWTS. Since fans are already accustomed to phoning in votes for the country pop star, Kellie Pickler is expected to do well this season.

Reality TV star Lisa Vanderpump of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" could add some drama to the cast. Zendaya Coleman of the Disney channel will give the show a young audience, and hopefully more viewers.

Finally, Comedians D.L Hugley and Andy Dick and soap opera actor Ingo Rademacher will appear on DWTS season 16.

The two-hour season premier of Dancing With The Stars is scheduled air on Monday, March 18 at 8pm Eastern Standard Time on ABC.
