Japanese Whalers Collide With Activists Ship…Again

Japanese whaling ships have collided with the animal activist ship The Bob Barker. This is the second time the whalers and the animal rights group Sea Shepard have been involved in an incident like this in the Arctic Ocean.

The first accident involved the whaling ship Shonan Maru and the anti whaling ship the Ady Gil. The Shonan Maru sliced the Ady Gil in half and the ship sank. Nobody on board wither ship was hurt.

Both organizations are faulting the other for the most recent incident involving their ships.

In a video posted by CNN, you see the anti-whaling vessel the Bob Barker maneuvering between two of the Japanese whaling ships, which are easily twice the Barkers size.

One of the whaling ships the Nisshin Maru bangs into the Bob Barker smashing the smaller ship between the Nisshin Maru and the tanker ship there to refuel the whaling ship.

CNN reports "The Institute of Cetacean Research (ICR) -- which conducts whaling activities under the authority of the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries -- accused ships from the environmental group Sea Shepherd of "sabotage."

The Sea Shepard's are saying that the whalers are the ones who caused the accident. Nobody on either side was injured. But you can expect some sort of legal action from both parties to follow.

The Sea Shepard's are an organization that is devoted to stopping the hunting of whales by the Japanese. They often use harassing techniques like throwing garbage and bottles of butyric acid to onto the deck of the whaling ships in order to spoil the whale meat.

The Sea Shepard's exploits became the basis for the Animal Planet show Whale Wars.
