Jack Nicholson to Jennifer Lawrence, 'I Just Had to Congratulate You' at Oscars 2013

During a post-Academy Award win interview with George Stephanopoulos, Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence was snuck up on and complimented by three time Oscar-winner Jack Nicholson. The backstage interaction between the two celebs has fueled a lot of chatter among fans suggesting the 75-year-old veteran actor was flirting with the 22-year-old newbie.

While she was reflecting on the shock of winning the Oscar with ABC's Stephanopoulos, Jennifer Lawrence was interrupted by a smiling Nicholson who congratulated her by saying, "you did such a beautiful job. I didn't mean to cross into your interview but I had to congratulate you."

As Nicholson walked away, Jennifer Lawrence asks, "is he gone?" to which Nicholson grinned and jumped back into frame shouting, "I'll be waiting!" The Silver Lining's Playbook star can immediately be seen with her mouth gaped open in amazement. She then considers the need for a rear-view mirror.

Before barging in on her interview for Good Morning, America, Nicholson could be seen in the background removing his trademark sunglasses and wiping the sweat from his forehead. A sure sign, suggest many fans, that he was enamored by the young starlet.

There is no doubt that Jennifer Lawrence has a bright future ahead of her after her big win Sunday night. She recently signed a modeling contract as the new face of Miss Dior and is preparing for her roles in two major blockbuster franchises, X-Men and The Hunger Games.

This was the first Academy Award for Jennifer Lawrence, who was previously nominated for her role in the 2010 independent drama Winter's Bone.  She is the youngest person ever to be nominated for two Best Actress Oscars.

Jack Nicholson was a presenter at this year's Awards and has previously won Oscars for his leading roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and As Good As It Gets as well as the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Terms of Endearment. He is currently tied with Daniel Day-Lewis and Walter Brennan for the most male acting Oscars and with twelve nominations under his belt, he is the most nominated male actor of all time.
