Senior Actress Reveals Method to Success? 'A Message to all Idol Actors'

Recently on SBS "Healing Camp," actress Kim Sung Ryung appeared as a guest. She explained her story on her determination to continue learning the skill of acting.

Even with her age, she decided to go back to school as a theater major in order to learn more about acting.

Although she has been acting for 23 years, she is back in school with students much younger than her to learn acting.

Kim Sung Ryung's beginning years were wonderful. She started as Miss Korea of 1988 and became the rising star for movies, dramas and commercials. She also won the rookie award as well in her lead role in a movie. However, in her later years, due to personal issues, she began to refuse productions and not many people began to look for her.

Kim Sung Ryung commented, "I think it was because I thought jobs like this came easy. What should have been a step by step process came to me in one big jump. After Miss Korea, I was given a lead role right away."

After listening to her story, we can think of a few idol stars turned actors. Many singers, who have a huge fan base and a history, have begun to take a step towards acting. It is not that important how they received these roles and rather important that it is ok to dream and try different things. Just because they are an idol does not mean that they cannot act.

When looking at the current idol actors, it is surprising that they are receiving positive feedback on their acting skills. Some idols are even more well known through their acting roles than their idol group.

However, there are some that also cause a disruption to the production with their lack of acting training and skills. It is those that we want to question how much they are passionate about this field.

For most idols, agencies check and see their potential for acting. If they seem fit, they continue with training and help them become better actors.

However, sometimes allowing them to easily reach their goal of acting can become a negative solution as they will not know the desperation and importance of working had towards a goal and succeed in reaching it.

Gaining something the hard way allows them to understand the importance of it.

In the case of actress Kim Sung Ryung, she was handed everything to her in the beginning and easily made it to the top. Now, she is back at the bottom and starting over to learn more in depth about the world of acting.

Idol actors should learn the same lesson as Kim Sung Ryung in that nothing comes easily and you receive just as much as you work for it. It is in these hopes that many new and upcoming idol turned actors will become successful and genuinely happy with their accomplishments.
