Dorothy Hamill Joins 'Dancing with the Stars,' 'New Challenge, Learning Ballroom Dance'

The Olympic skating champion joins the new season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

Eleven new contestants were revealed Tuesday morning on "Good Morning America" of the popular series on celebrity dance competition.

"Here's to learning new things in 2013 and having what I know will be one of the most memorable experiences of my life! #DWTS," Hamill posted to Twitter on Tuesday.

Hamill won the gold medal at the 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck, when she was just 19 years-old.

She added, "Regardless at the end I'll know that I'll have had one of the best and most memorable experiences in my life."

The gold medalist is to partner with professional dancer Tristan MacManus on "Dancing with the Stars." She is considered as a frontrunner on the series fitting the profile of past winners. As an athlete, they have proven to stay longer on the show.

Other celebrities joining her on this season includes fellow athlete Aly Rasiman and NFL player Jacoby Jones.

As well as standup comic and actor D.L. Hughley, former "American Idol" contestant Kellie Pickler, former welterweight boxing champ Victor Ortiz, "General Hospital" star Ingo Rademacher, actress-singer Zendaya Coleman and Lisa Vanderpump from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

The new "Dancing with the Stars" will return to ABC on Monday, March 18 with a two-hour premiere.
