Jon Snow's 'Game Of Thrones' Predicament Pushes Early 'Winds Of Winter' Release Date?

Book and TV fans are now in unchartered territory as Jon Snow's fate has overlapped in "Game of Thrones" season 5 and the book. This is why speculations have been going around that George R. R. Martin is rushing the "Winds of Winter" release date to answer the question of his death.

The rumors about the "Winds of Winter" release date being announced soon was kickstarted when "Game of Thrones" director Jack Bender was asked in a Reddit AMA whether he already read a draft of George R. R. Martin's latest opus.

The director simply said, "Yes," which sent netizens on a frenzy.

He also said that he was approached to do an episode for "Game of Thrones" but declined.

"Yes, I was approached to work on a prior season early on, and unfortunately I couldn't because of my schedule and other commitments - because you have to commit a REALLY Long period of time to do two episodes," he said.

In the finale of "Game of Thrones" season 5, Kit Harington's Jon Snow was stabbed several times by his fellow brothers at the Wall. The camera then fades to black with the character seemingly dead.

But during the Wimbledon, Kit Harington was snapped still sporting the long locks of Jon Snow which fueled speculations that he's not really dead.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, Kit Harington insisted that Jon Snow is dead.

"I've been told I'm dead. I'm dead. I'm not coming back next season. So that's all I can tell you, really," he said.

George R. R. Martin also previously told Entertainment Weekly that he wants to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date prior to the airing of "Game of Thrones" season 6, which would be in April next year.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he said.
