TVXQ Plan 2 Year Hiatus As SM Entertainment Confirms Changmin's Military Enlistment By The End Of This Year

Just as TVXQ's Jung "U-Know" Yunho begins to prepare for his enlistment in the army later this month, it seems that his groupmate Shim "Max" Changmin is set to follow him sooner than expected.

On July 7 a representative from SM Entertainment revealed that Changmin applied and was accepted to join the military police force. He will be enlisting before the end of the year.

"The two members seem to know they have synergy when their together rather than solo," one entertainment industry official explained as the reason why Changmin may be choosing to enlist now, according to EDaily. Changmin, who was born in 1988, has two more years before he is required to enlist, while this is Yunho's last year to begin his mandatory service.

Yunho will be enlisting on July 21. Currently he is starring in the web drama I Order You as his last work before enlistment. While Yunho prepares for his military service, Changmin performed alone at the most recent "SMTOWN World Tour" held in Tokyo on July 5 and 6.

Changmin is currently acting in MBC's drama Scholar Who Walks the Night. Although fans assumed that Changmin would pursue solo singing activities during Yunho's enlistment, it seems like Scholar Who Walks the Night might be his last project before his own enlistment.

However, though fans are both surprised and sad to see Changmin leaving this year, SM Entertainment officials said that they can look forward to a TVXQ comeback in two years.
