The Cure New Album Expected Soon? Robert Smith Talks About Getting Tracks From Supposed Split Album From 2008
The Cure is expected to release a new album really soon, which got fans excited to hear what the band has in store, following up to their 2008 release, "4:13 Dream."
In a report by NME, The Cure vocalist Robert Smith revealed how the group already has a few materials up their sleeves after their previous record label denied them from releasing a double record in 2008.
"Honestly? Just pure bloody mindedness," Smith shared his thoughts about the label's decision about just releasing a one-disc release instead. "I was so f*cking angry that [the label] wouldn't release a double album that I wouldn't give them the other songs."
The songs expected on the new Cure album is said by Smith to be a mix of the old and the new after the band made a shift in a line-up, which got them adding a few members since their last release.
"There's new stuff that we're doing with this line-up and stuff we finished with the old line up," Smith said.
"A lot of stuff happened, unfortunately, with the last line-up of the band. People forget sometimes that even when you get older, when you play music with people, there's a very intense relationship there and when that breaks down then it's very difficult to just pretend it doesn't matter."
Furthermore, 56-year-old singer how the new and old line-up for the group affected their song writing process.
"The last line-up, there were a number of reasons why I felt unable to complete what we were doing," he said. "It was impossible to just get another line-up and bang out the songs we didn't release; it would have been wrong."
The new The Cure album is expected this year while no words have been officially released from the band as of now.
