Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' Gets World Record, 50 Songs Written For Next Album?

Ed Sheeran's song "Thinking Out Loud" just got a new award. It's no ordinary award but a world record -- a Guinness World Record.

The singer shared the good news over at Instagram.

"That ain't too s**t is it," the Brit singer posted.

"The Longest climb to No. 1 on the UK singles chart is 19 weeks, achieved by Ed Sheeran (UK) with single 'Thinking Out Loud,' between 5 July and 8 November 2014," the certificate awarded to the singer read.

In a report on Billboard, it was mentioned that the title was held before by Celine Dion. Her song "Think Twice" spent 13 weeks in the UK charts before it became number one.

Billboard also mentioned that "Thinking Out Loud" was twice historic as it stayed an entire year in the UK Top 40.

As shown in the chart facts of the UK Charts website, meanwhile, "Thinking Out Loud" also stayed in the number one spot for two weeks.

"Thinking Out Loud" from the album "x" was a song Sheeran wrote about ex-girlfriend Athina Andrelos as he told The Telegraph last year. In the same interview, he said the album summed up how his life was before the album was released in 2014.

With the success of the album and expectation of people on him, Sheeran admitted he feels pressured for his next album.

''Because there's even more pressure now for this album," he told The Daily Star as quoted by TV3 Ireland.

"When you have a whole company depending on one thing, if I don't release the goods, it's going to be awkward,'' he added.

As such, the singer said he was already working hard on his next album.

"I've done 40 - maybe more like 50 songs already, and I'm not planning to release it for another year and a half, so I want to do a few more," Ed Sheeran said about his next album after writing hits like "Thinking Out Loud."
