All-Star Idol Cast Revealed For Korean Production Of Broadway Musical 'In The Heights' Including SHINee's Key, INFINITE's Dongwoo

Six K-pop idols will take on roles in the Korean production of the Broadway hit musical, "In The Heights."

Chen of EXO, Luna of f(x), Key of SHINee, soloist J-Min, and Jang Dongwoo and Kim Sungkyu of INFINITE will star in "In The Heights," which opens in Seoul on Sept. 4. The five will work alongside musical actors and double up on roles.

Key and Dongwoo will play the protagonist Usnavi, while Sungkyu and Chen will share the role of Benny. J-Min will play Usnavi's love interest Vanessa, and Luna will play the role of Nina.

This will be the first time that INFINITE's Dongwoo appears in a musical.

The idol singers will be splitting the roles with musical actors Yang Dong Geun (Usnavi), Jung Won Young (Usnavi), Oh So Yeon (Vanessa), and Kim Bo Kyung (Nina.)

All six idols are signed under SM C&C.

The musical takes place in the neighborhood Washington Height in Manhattan, New York City, and is about the lives of people in the largely Dominican-American neighborhood. "In The Heights" debuted as a bilingual musical, and used both English and Spanish in the original format.

It is unknown whether the Korean musical will include the bilingual elements, due to the fact that the Korean production will be the first time "In The Heights" is reproduced in a non Anglo or Latin country other than The Philippines, where English is an official language.

"In The Heights" premiered on Broadway in March 2008, and won four Tony Awards after being nominated in thirteen different categories. The musical also won a Grammy Award in 2008, and a Pulitzer Price in 2009.

The Korean premier of "In The Heights" will take place at Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Hannam-dong, Seoul, on Sept. 4.
