miss A singer and actress Suzy has declined the female lead role for the drama adaptation of Cheese in the Trap, a popular webtoon, and fan reaction have ranged from sighs of relief to shaking heads.

Fans have been split ever since it was announced that Suzy has been offered the role of university student Hong Sul, the central female character in Cheese in the Trap.

One side was critical of the choice, asserting that Suzy does not fit the personality of Hong Sul. Some even went as far as arguing that Suzy did not have the emotional or acting range to portray the nuanced character.

These critical fans took to online forums to thank Suzy for turning down the role.

"I send my sincere thank you for the first time to Suzy," "I'm truly a fan of you Suzy but really thank you for not being part of 'Cheese in the Trap!!!' I'll meet you next time with good songs and other projects <3," according to comments compiled by Koreaboo.

But there were also fans that believed Suzy would have been able to portray Hong Sul well if not for the vehement opposition by online critics.

"Who does the fans of the webtoon series want for that character? They all acting like a interfering mother in law," said one frustrated fan.

Suzy would have starred in the drama adaptation that will air in tvN during Mondays and Tuesdays. Actor Park Hae Jin has been finalized as playing the lead male character Yoo Jung, a senior to Hong Sul.
