KARA's Goo Hara Releases 1st Solo Music Video For 'Choco Chip Cookies' And Draws Mixed Reactions From Fans

KARA singer Goo Hara has released her solo debut album as well as the music video to title track "Choco Chip Cookies," but local fan reception has been underwhelming based on online comments in South Korean forums.

"Choco Chip Cookies" featured rapper Giriboy, and had a sweet summer concept where Goo Hara spent the majority of the music video flirting with a guy played by trainee Matthew Kim also under DSP Entertainment.

Amid the slate of online articles covering her solo debut, fans have been leaving a smattering of negative comments about her comeback, particularly on her lackluster vocal ability.

"I checked it out to see if she's improved and I don't see much improvement except maybe in tonality," said one critical fan, based on comments translated by Netizenbuzz.

Others also complained about her debut effort being "stuffy" and "childish." They wondered how she could have been so confident to debut in a month where her "weak" vocals would be compared with heavyweights like Girls' Generation, Big Bang, SISTAR and Girl's Day were also making their comebacks.

But Hara still received some fan love on YouTube.

"Well done my pretty Hara! Can't wait to watch her performing this live, I really want to know what kind of choreo she put for this song. So lovely," said one impressed YouTube commenter.

"Guys you should listen to whole album. Especially the song featuring Youngji. Seriously. You guys are going to love it," said another supporter.

Did you enjoy Goo Hara's debut song and its music video?
