Emma Stone Defends Cameron Crowe's Casting In 'Aloha;' Andrew Garfield's Girlfriend Opens Up About K-Pop Obsession

Emma Stone defended Cameron Crowe for the casting choice in "Aloha" even as Andrew Garfield's girlfriend admitted that she's become "the butt of many jokes."

In an interview with News.com.au, she said that even if she plays the role of a half-Asian, "The character was not supposed to look like her background which was a quarter Hawaiian and a quarter Chinese."

"There's a lot of conversation about how we want to see people represented on screen and what we need to change as a business to reflect culture in a clearer way and not in an idealized way," she acknowledged. "There are some flaws in the system. My eyes have been opened in many ways this year."

Cameron Crowe already wrote an apology over casting Emma Stone in his blog while at the same time appealing to spare Andrew Garfield's girlfriend from the backlash.

He wrote, "Thank you so much for all the impassioned comments regarding the casting of the wonderful Emma Stone in the part of Allison Ng. I have heard your words and your disappointment, and I offer you a heartfelt apology to all who felt this was an odd or misguided casting choice."

"However I am so proud that in the same movie, we employed many Asian-American, Native-Hawaiian and Pacific-Islanders, both before and behind the camera ... including Dennis 'Bumpy' Kanahele, and his village, and many other locals who worked closely in our crew and with our script to help ensure authenticity," he added.

"I am grateful for the dialogue. And from the many voices, loud and small, I have learned something very inspiring. So many of us are hungry for stories with more racial diversity, more truth in representation, and I am anxious to help tell those stories in the future," Cameron Crowe continued.

Meanwhile, amid the controversy Emma Stone is facing, Andrew Garfield's girlfriend reveals her obsession with K-Pop culture.

"It's Korean pop music, and it's beyond excellent. It's the best thing you've ever seen," she told Conan.

"I don't know what it is, it's like....I don't even know how to describe it. It's all so addictive. Very addictive," she added.
