With Zooey Deschanel gone for some episodes of the season because of her baby bump, it's an opportunity for other cast members to shine. According to the "New Girl" season 5 spoilers, the show will come back to Cece and Schmidt's engagement.

Actor Max Greenfield teased "New Girl" season 5 spoilers to Us Weekly back in May.

"The first episode back is an engagement party," he said. "And Cece's mom comes to town; we're not quite sure if she approves of Schmidt or not. There's definitely going to be some road bumps on our way to actually having a wedding."

Liz Meriweather told The Hollywood Reporter that the first episode without the pregnant Zooey Deschanel will be titled "No Girl."

"I directed the first episode without Zooey, that's the last one we shot this year, and it's really funny. It's a guys' episode. It's an opportunity to stretch ourselves... Or it will be a total disaster, and then she'll come back."

She dished season 5 spoilers to the THR as she said that it would have been hard with Zooey Deschanel missing because of her baby bump if the "New Girl" was still in its infancy.

"I think in the first or second season, it would have been hard, but now it feels like this creative opportunity to learn more about the other characters. And it's a little bit of a challenge. People are going to be asking, 'How are they going to pull this off?' I'm kind of asking that question of myself."

Previously, Errin Hayes of "Children's Hospital" was reported to have been cast as Ruth who will play the love interest to coach, played by Damon Wayans Jr.

"The actress-writer will play Ruth, the slightly ditzy and trashy school nurse who's having an fling with Coach and doesn't appreciate the new "no fraternization" policy that Jess - the Vice Principal - must enforce," TVLine said.
