K-Pop Fans Show Concern Over YG Entertainment's Promised September Debut Date For iKON

The news of a debut date being set for an idol group was well-received by many K-pop fans, while others cast shadows of doubt.

In an interview, Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO of South Korea's YG Entertainment, revealed that the company's yet-to-debut idol group iKON will enter the Korean music scene formally on September 15. Most fans expressed excitement, because fans have waited the group's debut eagerly since iKON was formed in 2014 through the survival competition show "Mix & Match."

Because of the extended wait time, some fans took to social media to doubt whether YG Entertainment would truly debut iKON on September 15 as planned.

YG Entertainment previously postponed iKON's comeback, which had originally been planned for the summer.

"I hope they can make [their] debut within this summer," Yang said in April. "That is my wish".

The plans for iKON's summer debut were pushed to September due to scheduling conflicts within YG Entertainment. Yang revealed that the company was focusing on promoting senior YG Entertainment Big Bang before turning their attention to iKON. iKON's September 15 debut date is planned approximately two weeks after the final promotions for Big Bang's five-month long project releases for "MADE."

Due to these delays, fans on social media expressed doubt even while they and other fans showed excitement.

"Omo! iKON is finally debuting soon!" tweeted Katrina Manzon. "This is what iKON and YG stand [avid fans] are waiting for. P.S: YG, please don't troll again."

On iKON's official Facebook page, Jas Min wrote, " I can't wait...September 15,2015 will be a day to remember."

Some fans went as far as to make jokes about Yang Hyun Suk not clarifying which September iKON's debut will be made in.

"September when?" asked iamwiwisxxi on Twitter. "Next year? Next, Next year??"

"For September 2016," wrote Acianggg, using emojis that are laughing and crying at once to express their feelings.

"September, but... what year?" asked arizu__ upon seeing the news.

"Yeah, I believe that they're obviously going to debut in 2025, " Hayliie Russell said on Facebook. "I know your games, Papa YG [Yang Hyun Suk]. I am not falling for it.
