George R.R. Martin Compensates 'Winds Of Winter' Release Date Delay With 'Great Twist?' Author Joins 'Sharknado 3'

Despite his promise to clear off his table of commitments so he could work on the "Winds of Winter" release date, George R. R. Martin just couldn't help himself.

Not when there's an opportunity to get killed on the big screen in the goriest way possible!

George R.R. Martin, a self-confessed sci-fi nut, appeared on "Sharknado" on a cameo.

The movie's official Twitter page shared a clip of the author sitting in a theater while watching a shark movie. Unfortunately, the movie became all too real when a three-headed shark jumped from the screen and into George R. R. Martin's chest before chomping his head off.

The caption read, "@RM_Strong Winter is LONG gone. #Sharknado3 #ChompChomp "

"And now all our hopes of ever getting to read the next installment of 'A Song of Ice and Fire' are gone, lost to the digestive process of the ocean's mightiest predator... as is George R.R. Martin's head," MTV quipped.

As for the "Winds of Winter" release date, no news is forthcoming as the reports claimed that George R. R. Martin is hard at work to finish the book before "Game of Thrones" will air in April next year.

The author, however, promised a "great twist" which should compensate fans looking forward to the "Winds of Winter" release date update.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said, "This is going to drive your readers crazy but I love it. I'm still weighing whether to go that direction or not. It's a great twist."

George R. R. Martin continued, "It's easy to do things that are shocking or unexpected, but they have to grow out of characters. They have to grow out of situations."

"Otherwise, it's just being shocking for being shocking. But this is something that seems very organic and natural, and I could see how it would happen. And with the various three, four characters involved... it all makes sense."
