K-Pop Triple Threat: YG Entertainment Announces September Releases From Big Bang, Psy And iKON

One of the largest entertainment agencies in South Korea will dominate September with three highly anticipated music releases.

On July 29, YG Entertainment confirmed a September comeback for Psy, arguably the most popular Korean musician around the world after his 2012 hit "Gangnam Style" went viral and became the most-viewed YouTube video of all time.

The company also previously announced a September release from Big Bang, and the debut of idol group iKON on September 15.

Based on the interest in both iKON's debut and Psy's first comeback since 2014's "Hangover," as well as the success of Big Bang's earlier "MADE" single releases, YG Entertainment artists are expected to dominate the Korean music scene in September.

The first of the month will herald in the finale of Big Bang's multi-month release project for their "MADE" album, followed by the reported debut of hip-hop boy band iKON. Psy will round out September with an end-of-month release date.

Prior to September, Big Bang will also release the "E" portion of the "MADE" series project on August 5, featuring the song "Fantastic" by Big Bang's unit duo GD&TOP, featuring rappers G-Dragon and T.O.P. Big Bang will also release a second single on the same date.

iKON's September 15 debut was announced unexpectedly earlier this month during an interview by YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk. The male idol group was put together on the survival competition show "Mix & Match" in 2014.

The members of iKON will also appear alongside members of YG Entertainment's other boy band, WINNER, during a Naver livestream show on August 1.

However, due to a reported earlier debut date, there is some concern by many K-pop fans regarding iKON's debut schedule.

Regarding Psy, who will end the month for YG Entertainment, YG Entertainment revealed that the rapper's reported writer's block is no longer a problem. He will focus on Korean promotions rather than focusing on the international market.

Psy's hit song "Gangnam Style" became the most popular Korean song in the world in 2012. It is the most watched video in YouTube's history, with over 2.3 billion views.

According to YG Entertainment's blog, "YG's full potential will be concentrated in September."
