Red Velvet Charm As Opening Act For 2nd Concert Night Of KCON 2015 In Los Angeles

Red Velvet, SM Entertainment's first girl group since f(x)'s debut in 2009, had their first U.S. appearance at the 2015 KCON in Los Angeles. They opened for the M! Countdown concert on the second night.

Red Velvet's concept, as expressed in their name, is a mix of strong and soft, and that is what they highlighted in their four song set. Starting with "Ice Cream Cake," the titular track off their 2015 album of the same name, Red Velvet charmed with their cute appearance and dancing.

They slowed it down with "Something Kinda Crazy" off the same album, but really kicked it into high gear with their cover of Pussy Cat Dolls' song, "Stickwitu." Sung entirely in English, the song showcased the vocal abilities of the group, as well as their language fluency.

Red Velvet wrapped up with their debut single, "Happiness," a strong, marching band-esque track. "Sometimes, you gotta be bold, just rock the world," as they sing in the opening lines. Standing on top of the stage at Staples Center, they did just that.

Their successful first performance in the U.S. surely gave this young quintet as much happiness as they gave their fans at KCON 2015 in Los Angeles.
