K-Pop Idol Group Promotions? 'Comeback Strategies'

Now, comeback's for singers are planned strategies. The fact of how to make a comeback is what will determine their success. Thus, many agencies are now spending a lot more time into planning K-Pop idol group's comebacks.

On March 10, rookie singer Lee Hi made a comeback through the SBS audition program, "K-Pop Star 2." This is a rare sight as not many singers make a comeback through an audition program. This brought about attention to her comeback and helped with her promotions.

Lee Hi's agency, YG Entertainment, put in a lot of effort for her first official album. They had a life size bear balloon on the roof of their company building as well as reveal teaser images and videos daily before her official comeback. They also revealed songs for free as well.

She also did not make her comeback all on one day. She split her album into two parts, revealing one title song and 5 songs on March 7 and the other title song and remaining 5 songs on March 21.

For idol group SHINee, they held a preview event called, 'SHINee Music Spoiler', where they talked about the back stories in preparing for their new album and other stories.

U-KISS, who made a comeback after 1 year and 6 months, made their comeback before their album was officially released. Their powerful energy on stage melted the hearts of fans. Their new album currently has around 30,000 copies that have been reserved.

Also with the Hallyu wave, many idol groups have started to do worldwide releases of their album so that their music could expand even outside of Korea.

Psy will be holding a solo concert in Seoul on April 13 and reveal his new song for his new single. He will be releasing his new single as a worldwide album.

With all these different comeback strategies, it seems that the K-Pop industry will be even more competition. Groups will have to be more creative and unique to take over the charts. Although it is important to listen to the music, the product and the performance has to be eye-catching enough for people to listen to the music.
