Rain's 'Diamond Lover' TV Drama And Original Soundtrack Show Tremendous Popularity In China

The Rain Effect is strong in China.

South Korean singer and actor Rain has been receiving much attention in China recently for his lead role in and soundtrack contributions to the Chinese drama, "Diamond Lover."

"Diamond Lover," a modern day Scrooge story with a romantic twist, boasts over 3.3 billion views as of Thursday.

The 68-episode drama recently aired episode 42 and has become popular throughout China, not only for the drama but also the original soundtrack which Rain has contributed to as both a singer and as a producer.

"The top star lineup cast and interesting story line have captured many viewers' attention, making it a drama worth watching," read a statement from China's QQ.com posted Thursday to the Korean news site OSEN.

The drama first gained attention as Rain's first leading role in China. It is most popular among younger audiences and has been called one of '2015's top trendiest dramas'.

Tracks "Diamond Lover" and "Pretend" ranked first and second on the QQ Music Korean Music Chart as well.

As of Thursday, "Diamond Lover" has continued to stay at the number one spot for 20 consecutive days in a row, revealing the drama's popularity in China.
