Review: Jang Hye Jin Serves Up A Soulful Sound For End Of Summertime On 'Summer Lady' Featuring Andup [AUDIO]

The sweltering days of summer might be winding down, but it ain't over yet.

There are still some sizzling summertime jams coming out of South Korea right now, to accompany you on your final treks to the beach or to provide you with the perfect poolside soundtrack.

The 50-year-old South Korean pop singer Jang Hye Jin released her first album more than 24 years ago, 1991's "Always In My Dreams." Jang released six more albums over the next 15 years, before beginning a nearly decade-long album hiatus in 2006. In that time she recorded a dozen themes for South Korean television and appeared on the reality show singing competition programs "I Am A Singer," "Top Band" and "King Of Masked Singer."

But none of the ticks on that impressive resume matter when you hear Jang's sultry new single "Summer Lady," from the digital single "Ordinary 0817," released on Monday.

The seasoned (but still strikingly beautiful) vocalist attacks the track with the soulful verve of an artist hitting the recording studio for the first time. This fresh attitude is matched with a natural and unforced vocal performance that can only come with experience in the isolation booth.

Guest rapper Andup provides the perfect compliment to the sunny melodies of Jang, dropping a brief, effective rhyme that takes the song to new heights.

It is always pretty easy to detect which artists are making music with the goal of getting the notoriety and riches awarded to elite pop stars and which are doing it out of the sheer love of writing, performing and recording.

It is clear that not only is Jang doing it out of a profound love of music, she has the talent and charm to outpace many of the hottest young stars of today.

In fact, it would appear she already has.
