Rolling Stone Declares CL The Hottest Female Rapper In Korea With Inclusion On '10 New Artists You Need To Know' List

Rolling Stone magazine released an article about ’10 New Artists You Need To Know: August 2015’ and chose 2NE1’s CL as one of the most popular female rappers in Korea.

She has also signed with Scooter Braun for her US debut and is under the same label as popular artists Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

“I don’t want to take too much responsibility, where I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m representing Asia,’” said CL posted Monday  to the magazine Rolling Stone.

Most recently, CL has performed with Skrillex, Diplo and will.i.am at the MDBP (Mad Decent Block Party) festival tour.

“I would love to represent Asian girls and be an example of idol for girls [in the US],” she said posted Monday as well. “That is my dream, but I don’t want that to be my main goal.”

She revealed that she saw herself more as a performer than a rapper as she did not like to box herself into any one category. She is a lover of singing and dancing and puts music first.

Other artists that were chosen along with CL include Tunde Olaniran, Cold Beat, Grave Pleasures, Halsey, Snoh Aalegra, Boogie and Bjarki.

Spin Magazine also recognized her for her feature in Diplo’s “Doctor Pepper.”

“There’s a part where CL’s just standing there firing off a tweet in the dark and she’s still more iconic that most pop stars doing it today,” wrote Spin posted Tuesday to the news site Manila Bulletin.
