Former KARA Member Kang Jiyoung Sets Sights On Hollywood

Former KARA singer Kang Jiyoung is dead serious on becoming a Hollywood star.

"I'm studying to enter Hollywood," said Jiyoung in an interview, revealing her desire to make it as a celebrity in the entertainment capital of the world.

Jiyoung has nabbed some roles in Japan as an actress after leaving KARA early last year, so she will not be entering Hollywood without any experience.

While many fans are wishing Jiyoung luck and expressed confidence that she can make it in Hollywood, other online commenters are viewing the news with skepticism.

"Looks like her variety skills have improved since going to Japan," "She's out of her mind," "The difference between want and what you can actually achieve," said dismissive commenters.

Jiyoung's Hollywood plans reveal a huge jump in confidence for the former KARA member.

Back in 2014, after leaving KARA and flying off to London to pursue further studies, Jiyoung had written a letter to fans confessing some vulnerability.

"Due to the fact that I was afraid to be alone I went to London because one of my friend lives there," she wrote. "However, I started to reminisce about the times when I was always receiving care, whether it was from my fellow members or staff. Now that I'm alone I realize how important these people have been in my life."

She then re-launched as an actress in Japan under the Japanese agency Sweet Power.

On October 2014, Jiyoung took on the role of the free-spirited troublemaker Yuki on the Japanese TV program Jigoku Sensei Nube, a small-screen adaptation of the Takeshi Okana and Sho Makura manga.

In February 2015, she debuted on her first Japanese film Assassination Classroom.
