‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ Cast Jude Law Suggests ‘Time Travel’ As Film Plot But Guy Ritchie Says No

Jude Law suggested for "time travel" to be the basis of the upcoming "Sherlock Holmes 3" film, but Guy Ritchie who created the films does not like it at all, a report on Cinemablend says.

Recently, the possibility of a third film in the "Sherlock Holmes" film franchise was confirmed. Other than that, it is said that the original cast, which includes Robert Downey Jr. as the sleuth and Jude Law as Dr. Watson, are eager to return to reprise their roles.

The only mystery is what the film will be all about after "A Game of Shadows" where the dynamic duo of the Victorian era battled the evil Professor Moriarti.

During an appearance at MTV's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Jude Law is said to have revealed what he has suggested for the storyline of "Sherlock Holmes." According to reports, the actor pitched a plot idea which includes time travel.

The actor, who was surprised that the idea even found its way outside of the "Sherlock Holmes" production team, confirmed that he did pitch the idea, saying "I still think it's a good idea," but he added that he did not want to confirm matters and "blow the idea out of the water."

"I thought we could sort of combine H.G. Wells and Sherlock Holmes," Law said. "And then Downey topped it by going, 'Yeah, and the time travel machine is... it's something you eat.'

"I wonder what he's referring to there," Law continues to say about the idea. "I don't know. You eat it and you go, 'Oh my god, I'm in 2024!'"

Though Dr. Watson seems ecstatic about the idea, Ritchie was not thrilled about it. When the filmmaker appeared on a later episode of the MTV podcast, he shot down the idea stating that Law always had "surprisingly good" ideas and lines.

However, addressing the idea of time travel, Ritchie said, "The time travel one was not the zenith of his [Law] ideas."

It is an interesting idea seeing how the "Sherlock Holmes" series version featured Benedict Cumberbatch travelling back to the Victorian era during a Christmas special episode, which they refused to explain, leaving viewers confused.
