Super Junior's Kim Kibum 'Starting New Life' After Contract With SM Entertainment Expires

Super Junior's Kim Kibum officially says goodbye to SM Entertainment.

Earlier this week, the former boy group member uploaded a photo to his official Instagram account with the caption, "2015 August 18th. Finished with SM Ent. Lets begin my new life!" Afterwards, he writes in Korean, "For the time we were together, SM, thank you."

A report by OSEN released hours later confirmed Kibum's departure from SM Entertainment. On August 20, SM Entertainment officials announced that Kibum's exclusive contract with the company officially expired. "We ask fans to support Kibum as he continues forward," the company expressed as well.

Kim Kibum originally debuted with Super Junior in 2005, however in 2006 the member expressed his interest in focusing on acting and has been on hiatus from the group ever since. According to a report by My Daily, fellow member Eunhyuk expressed that Super Junior would welcome Kibum back at any time. Though now Kibum is unlikely to return, it seems the remaining members of Super Junior still give him their support.

Member Ryeowook shared a message to his personal Twitter. "I will always support you Kibum! I hope you'll be happier in a good place," he tweeted. "We sincerely wish that being in Super Junior will leave good memories."

While the members seem to support Kibum, Korean netizens seem to have mixed responses to the member's official departure from SM Entertainment. "You fool, you probably would've made more money if you stuck with Super Junior all along," one user commented as translated by Netizenbuzz.

"So he is still alive," another wrote.

Still, for as much criticism as Kibum is receiving, many fans are still sharing that they are happy Kibum is going to continue following his acting dreams and grateful that he did not try to cause drama for Super Junior during his hiatus.
