DJ-Producer Diplo Praises 2NE1's CL For Building Her Fan Base From The Ground Up Prior To Official U.S. Debut

With CL's U.S. debut quickly approaching, DJ and producer Diplo (Thomas Wesley Pentz) commented on the Korean rapper's debut preparation and praised her promotion strategy during a recent interview with TIME Magazine.

The American musician hinted that CL (Chaerin Lee) will be releasing her American debut album sometime in September or October.

"I think CL's doing it the right way because she's coming through an underground channel," Diplo said, "As opposed to just coming with one big record, do talk shows, and then people forget about her. She's developing and gaining fans from the ground up."

Such praise from Diplo is thought to be based on CL's performances over the past several months at various U.S. events including the Ultra Music Festival in March and the Mad Decent Block Party (MDBP) in early August.

CL will continue performing for MDBP in Toronto on August 29, Berkeley, CA on September 11, and Lost Angeles on September 19. She is also slated to appear for the Freaky Deaky Fest in Chicago this Halloween.

In May, CL collaborated with Diplo, Riff Raff, and OG Maco for the single "Doctor Pepper." The official music video was released earlier this month.
