K-Pop Destinations: See Your Favorite K-Pop Stars Perform During A Live Taping Of Mnet's 'M! Countdown'

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

Headed to Seoul and want to see a live show? It's easier and more affordable than you might think. Just head to the CJ E&M Center in Seoul to see a taping of Mnet 'M! Countdown' live.

The show is one of the most popular ways for fans to keep their finger on the pulse of the world of K-pop. Each Thursday night, people in all parts of Asia, Europe, and the U.S. tune in to hear the latest hit songs, live performances from artists, funny skits from the star-studded lineup of hosts, and a rundown of industry news.

With no complicated registration process and an incredible lineup, this is one of the most popular shows for foreign travelers that are visiting Seoul. The studio only seats a few hundred, so you're really rubbing shoulders with some of the hottest stars in the industry, seeing with your own eyes the show that millions of eyes later see on screens across the world.

Now, the show is accessible for foreigners, but you're going to have to wake up early and be prepared to wait in line. Some fans get to the building - which is in the Sangam-dong neighborhood of Seoul, accessible from the 6 Subway train -- as early as 5:00 a.m., or even earlier if a very popular group is playing.

By around 9 a.m., or whenever the line starts to get very long, a representative from the building should come out and give the first 200 people a number. That means you're in! One free ticket to the show. With that number or voucher, you're free to leave and come back at 5 p.m. for the taping. Grab some lunch, take a nap, do whatever, but make sure you're back in time to flash your number and get in to the free taping! Come prepared to scream and sing and scream some more.

If you're just visiting Seoul or can't dedicate an entire Thursday for the 'M! Countdown' show, you can still take in the scene. Tourists can come on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to walk through the studios, see where the magic happens, and explore the site's cafes and restaurants. On Tuesdays, you can check out the live filming of Comedy Big League, the gag-comedy show that has South Koreans in stiches each week. It is, by all accounts, a hilarious outing.

There are more ways to see your favorite K-pop stars than just buying expensive tickets to a show in a giant arena. Next time you're in Seoul, get up early and check out 'M! Countdown' for an up close and personal viewing of K-pop must-see TV.
