Ha Minwoo Becomes 1st ZE:A Member To Plan For Military Enlistment

Step aside, "Real Men." One member of ZE:A is preparing to enter the Korean army.

Ha Minwoo, one of ZE:A's members, announced on August 26 that he will enlist on September 15. Minwoo is the first member of the K-pop idol group to begin his mandatory military service.

Minwoo wrote a handwritten letter to ZE:A's fans where he discussed the difficult decision he made regarding his enlistment.

The singer expressed his concern for fans who may worry about the sudden news, and his hopes to meet ZE:A's fans again after fulfilling his two years of mandatory service.

"Time is really fast, right?" he asked. "I've received a lot of of lover the past six years, running without rest through the countless concerns and happy moments. I've made many joyful memories with ZE:A and its fans, but now it's already time to enlist. If you're a guy, this is something that you go through at least once, and I'm going to go too..

All South Korean able-bodied men are required to serve a period of around two years in the Korean army, due to the fact that South Korea is still technically at war with North Korea.

Ha Minwoo wrote that he will spend the time before his military training wrapping up activities with ZE:A and spending time with the members and his family.

"I'll take on the attitude that I did during my debut, to learn and mature, so that I can return as an able man," he promised.

On Twitter, Minwoo wrote, "I'm sorry, thank you, I love you, ZE:A I love you. Goodbye. [lit. I will go well.]"

Ha is one of ZE:A's youngest members, but the first to enter military service.

ZE:A debuted in 2010. In 2012, Minwoo became part of the Japanese project group 3Peace Lovers alongside two Japanese celebrities, Nikaido Hayato and Sasake Yoshihide. He last promoted the Chinese song "Marry Me" with the ZE:A J subgroup.
