Michael Jackson Team Settles $1 Million Lawsuit Against Costume Designer Zaldy; King of Pop’s Sunglasses Go On The Auction Block For Charity

Michael Jackson, "Thriller" singer, is still back in the headlines. Michael Jackson's Christopher Demers and choreographer Travis Payne settled a lawsuit against Nestor (Zaldy) Goco, a costume designer they introduced to the late King of Pop for close to $1 million, about twice the amount they'd sued for, according to the Daily News.

Demers and Payne said they helped Goco to get a deal to design outfits for Michael Jackson's final tour, which never happened because the pop superstar died of a drug overdose in June 2009. Under the deal, Payne and Demers were to be paid 20% of Gogo' royalties.

Zaldy's designs featured Swarovski crystals and tuxedo pants that would have been triggered with LED lights for Jackson's "Billy Jean" number.

Payne worked with Jackson for 17 years

According to Zaldy, Jackson told him that the designs were "everything I ever wanted" two weeks before he died.

Zaldy has designed costumes for Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.

The lawsuit said Zaldy stopped paying Jackson's team after the "Beat It" singer died. They sued last year for $480,000.

"We tried to settle this amicably several times," Demers told the New York Post. "But he repeatedly defaulted on his own proposed settlements. This was a mess."

Very few of Michael Jackson's personal belongings have ever been sold. The late pop singer's close friend Omer Bhatti will auctioning off a pair of Michael Jackson's sunglasses from his Dangerous World Tour for charity.

Omer's mother Pia was the nanny of Michael's children while the Bhatti family lived at Neverland.

"When I was 15, my mom suffered from a serious stroke that turned our lives upside down. Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital in Norway helped her get her life back, and by donating these glasses, I want to raise as much money as possible to support their amazing work," Bhatti said in a statement.

Bhatti was 11 when he first met his idol Michael Jackson, and soon after he moved to Neverland with his mom and dad to live with The King of Pop. For the next nine years Omer and Michael lived, worked and toured together, and Omer and Michael's biological children are as close as siblings.

Omer has always kept his close relationship with Michael Jackson very private and has never sold either stories or items, but to raise money for charity he is now auctioning off one of his cherished belongings: the sunglasses MJ wore almost daily during his Dangerous World Tour. These are not stage glasses, but Michael's private glasses that he wore while on the move.

In 2011, a pair of Jackson's glasses were sold, the winning bid landed at $60K.

Omer's decision to sell the glasses has been blessed by the Jackson family with whom he remains very close. The family has a policy not to sell any of MJ's personal belongings, but support this donation.

Michael Jackson's sunglasses are sold using the Snapsale app. Snapsale offers everyone the opportunity to sell their stuff fast and hassle free. For Michael Jackson's sunglasses, the latest bid is stated as the current price.

"Everyone can take part in the auction by placing a bid using Snapsale. I wouldn't be where I am doing what I love if it hadn't been for Michael, and my mom wouldn't have been here if it hadn't been for Sunnaas Hospital."

To place a bid, install the Snapsale app and search for either Omer or Michael Jackson.

Snapsale is a free app for buying and selling things on mobile devices. It applies image recognition technology, boosting on Google Ads, hashtags and instant chat for quick and effortless spread and communication between seller and buyer.
