Girls' Generation, VIXX LR Top Billboard's World Albums Chart

Two South Korean acts are lording over the Billboard World Albums chart for the week of September 5.

The new albums from Girls' Generation (Lion Heart) and VIXX project duo VIXX LR (Beautiful Liar) are now at number 1 and 2, respectively.

Both newly released albums skyrocketed to the top two places of the Billboard's World Albums weekly chart, which tracks the top-selling world music albums based on sales data compiled by Nielsen Music.

Girls' Generation's Lion Heart is their fifth full-length album and managed to dislodge Celtic Thunder's The Very Best of Celtic Thunder album.

Meanwhile, VIXX LR's Beautiful Liar EP is the debut album from the project duo which consists of singer Leo and rapper Ravi and explains the "LR" designation. The album displaced Gaelic Storm's Matching Sweaters album from the second spot.

Girls' Generation and VIXX LR continue the streak of South Korean acts that have dominated the Billboard World Albums chart.

In May, EXO also stormed the same chart with their second album Exodus topping the chart on April 18 and the staying in the top 10 for a month.

Fellow SM boy group SHINee likewise topped the same chart in June with their fourth studio album Odd.

And in July, BTS, Nine Muses, indie band Hyukoh and SEVENTEEN all landed in the Top 10.
