The cast for the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic is coming together with reports stating that Eddie Murphy, Oprah Winfrey and Mike Epps among others will be starring in the film, a report on Slate states.

The planned Richard Pryor biopic has been under development for more than a year now with announcements stating that Lee Daniels will be helming the film which will be released under Weinstein Company.

Furthermore, the film has already announced that Mike Epps will be taking on the role of the renowned comedian, and it looks like Weinstein is assembling a star-studded ensemble to go with the actor.

According to Deadline, Oprah Winfrey, Eddie Murphy and Kate Hudson will be onboard the project, and will be playing important roles as well.

The report states that Murphy will be playing the role of Pryor's father, Leroy "Buck Carter" Pryor. Cinemablend wrote that this will be the first dramatic film that the actor will be starring in following "Dreamgirls" which came out around a decade ago.

Oprah has also been included in the list. Previous reports stated that the multi-hyphenate will be onboard the project as the producer, but recent reports state that she will be appearing in the film as the central character's grandmother.

Business Standard stated that the role the TV-host will be playing is a little special as Pryor's grandmother is known to have been the operator of a brothel where she raised the young Richard who would eventually become a famous comedy actor.

Finally, Hudson is said to be taking on the role of Jennifer Lee Pryor, one of the six wives that the comedian had. SlashFilm noted that Jennifer Lee was Pryor's wife who had been with him when he passed away in 2005 after suffering a massive heart attack.

On the other hand, the production of Richard Pryor's biopic is said to start this coming March 2016, while the title of the film has yet to be announced.
