Father Of EXO Member Suho Receives Apology For Rumors Relating To Political Views

The father of EXO's Suho received an apology for false rumors relating to his political views.

Kim Yong Ha, a professor at Soonchunhwang University and the father of EXO's leader Suho (Kim Jun Myun) reached a settlement with the person who spread false rumors about his political views last year. The perpetrator made a public apology to clarify that he had lied about Kim being pro-Japanese and anti-government.

The apology puts to rest the rumors that alleged Kim was a Japanese imperialist sympathizer.

"I acknowledge that I created rumors about Suho's father saying he is pro-Japanese, which is not true," read the letter from the person who spread the false rumors, reported the K-Pop Herald. "I have harmed Suho's reputation by spreading rumors and I sincerely apologize."

At the height of the rumors, Kim claimed that the rumors were perpetuated by officials hoping to silence his opinion regarding South Korean pension reform and being used to damage Suho's career as a member of EXO.

"The portion of the forces that resisted the public officials' pension reform had systematically malicious and false content [circulated about them] on the Internet, which is not only defaming my character but also causing great pain to my son," Kim said in November.

After the initial incident in 2014, Kim took legal action against the rumors, leading to the settlement and apology.
