Although 2NE1 frontwoman CL did not perform at MTV's Video Music Awards as some predicted, the rapper still managed to catch the attention of several pop icons before her upcoming debut.

Attending the event as designer Jeremy Scott's guest, CL dazzled fans with photos of her experience at the iconic MTV event. In addition, photos of the 24-year-old also surfaced online mingling with celebrities like Iggy Azalea, Demi Lovato, and A$AP Rocky.

"To me, she is one of my best friends; to her fans, she's the Baddest Female," said Jeremy Scott during an interview with Paper magazine.

"So yeah, it's a dichotomy. I know she also has an image, and I'm aware of the image-I contribute to the image. But when I think of her, I don't think of that. I think of who I love and who I know and it's a very loyal, very sincere and very smart person."

CL has not been avoidant of controversy either. The same interview with Paper magazine sparked negative backlash among Asian fans of 2NE1 and her solo work due to her comments on Asian women.

"A lot of Asian girls love being basic because it's safe," said CL.

"But the thing is, a lot of my fans are those girls, and they want to be bolder, but there's no one they could look up to and be like, 'It's OK to be that way.' ... Girls in Asia are very obedient, shy, timid, quiet, but I can tell that it's changing and I want them to be stronger and tell them that it's okay to be different. Being special is a luxury, and I don't think we have that. Yet."

CL is slated to make her debut later this year. Managed by Scooter Braun, she has reportedly worked with musical talents like Diplo, Skrillex, Grimes, Florence Welch among others.
