Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae Make $42,000 Donation To Earthquake Victims In Nepal

Hip-hop legend Tiger JK (Seo Jung Kwon) and his wife, singer Yoon Mi Rae, have recently made a sizeable contribution to the earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.

After hearing about the devastating earthquake, the hip-hop husband and wife decided to take action, donating 50 million won (approximately $42,000) to the relief effort through the international relief and development agency Oxfam Korea.

The 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Nepal on April 25 caused over 8,600 casualties and left over 450,000 displaced as thousands of homes were destroyed and entire villages were flattened.

"When I heard about the earthquake in Nepal, my dad came to my mind as he truly wanted to visit the Himalayas when he was alive. I thought, maybe I could help those people in Nepal," Tiger JK said.

The couple went on to say, "We know that there are still people out there who suffer from the lack of clean water, food and shelter. We would like to give them both practical and sustainable help so that they can continue on with their lives."

According to Oxfam Korea, the donation from Tiger JK and Yoon will be used to provide clean water and hygiene kits, building temporary lavatories and shelters, in an attempt to prevent the spread of any infectious diseases or starvation. It will also be used to aid in the rehabilitation and revitalization of Nepal and its economy.
