Boyfriend-KARA Rank in 'Top 3' on Japan Oricon Charts for 1 Week

Groups Boyfriend and KARA have both released new songs in Japan and have been ranking in the 'top 3' on the Oricon charts for a week.

Oricon revealed that as of today, Boyfriend was at number 2 and KARA at number 3 on the charts.

Boyfriends new song, "Melody of the Eyes," sold 3,288 copies in one day and KARA's  "Bye Bye Happy Days," sold 3,189 copies. Both of these songs were released on March 27 and have been gaining continuous support for the past week.

Boyfriend's  "Melody of the Eyes" is a love song that reveals a more mature and sophisticated image of the group. KARA's "Bye Bye Happy Days" is a cute and fun dance song.

KARA debuted in 2007 under DSP Media. The group consists of 5 members and have come to be one of the hottest groups in Korea and overseas.

Their song, "Mister" and its fun choreography moves was what allowed them to expand their popularity overseas.

They later signed a contract with Universal Music Japan in 2010. They became known as the number 1 Rookie artist that same year as well. They also hit their number 1 single in Japan as well, making them the first foreign female team to top the chart in just its first week.

The group became one of the most popular Korean groups in Japan, selling over 1 million copies of their single.

Boyfriend debuted in 2011 under Starship Entertainment. They debuted with their single, Boyfriend, and continued to release 2 more singles in 2011.

Last year, the released a mini album and a full album along with 2 Japanese singles as well.

This year, they released a repackage album for "Janus" and their 3rd Japanese single, Melody of the Eyes.
