Dancing Inmates Movie: Michael Jackson’s Thriller Dancers To Be Featured In Film About Corruption [VIDEO]

Six years ago inmates at a prison in the Philippines became YouTube sensations when the dressed in orange jump suits and danced to Michael Jackson's Thriller. The original YouTube video has 52,434,111 views.

The dancing inmates are now getting a second chance to be seen and heard. A new movie will becoming out about jailhouse corruption. The movie was shot at the same jail where dancing inmates preformed Thriller. The dancing inmate movie is titled "Dance of the Steel Bars." The movie is a work of fiction but centers on non-fiction issues such as life and corruption behind bars.

"We made this film to tell the story of redemption, and of the human spirit's ability to change for the better," said Marnie Manicad the co-director of the movie told the Associated Press.

The movie "Dance of the Steel Bars" stars Patrick Bergin and Dingdong Dantes. The plot follows character Frank Parish (Bergin) an American wrongly jailed for a murder while in the Philippines. During his time in jail Parish is taught how to dance for prison shows along with many of the other inmates.

The prisoners in the movie are stuck between the conflict and corruption in the jail and the positive changes being implemented by the jail's new warden.

The real YouTube dancing inmates have become a tourist attraction. Upwards of 15,000 inmates gather in the courtyard of the prison and perform shows for tourists visiting the jail.

Their most recent dance performance included Psy's "Gangnam Style." The dancing inmate movie will feature some of the prisoners who take part in the real life jailhouse shows.
