Emily Blunt Uses ‘Sicario’ For Feminism, Makes Husband John Krasinski And Baby Hazel Proud

Emily Blunt made sure that “Sicario” was another opportunity to push for feminism. The actress is certainly making her husband John Krasinski and baby Hazel proud!

According to Belfast Telegraph, Emily Blunt made sure that she fought for the bigger movement of feminism in working on “Sicario”. She said, "We were lucky we had a writer and director and literally a studio who were willing to make it with just a woman in the female protagonist role," she said.

According to the article, “Blunt said she found it odd that in 2015 someone still had to put their foot down to ensure a role went to a woman.”

She added, "I do find it odd but it doesn't surprise me. I do think things are shifting, there's a sea-change going on, but we do have ways to go before we have complete equality in the industry.”

But the actress herself isn’t so good at receiving praises. She Emily Blunt got so much good words at Cannes Film Festival 2015 for her work in “Sicario” that she didn’t know what to do.

According to USA Today, ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ star admitted that she isn’t very good at taking the spotlight.

"British people have a really hard time with that," Emily Blunt said. "We have a hard time with ongoing enthusiasm and being the center of attention."

But Emily Blunt wasn’t afraid of being the center of attention when she criticized Cannes Film Festival 2015 policy on female stars wearing heels on the red carpet. It was another moment of strong feminism for “Sicario” star.

According to The Telegraph, “Emily Blunt, the British actress, has led furious criticism of the Cannes Film Festival for its policy on high heels, after women in flat shoes were revealed to have been turned away from premieres.”

To quote ‘Sicario’ actress, she said: "Everyone should wear flats, to be honest… It's very disappointing, obviously. You kind of thought there were waves of people realising that women are just as fascinating and interesting to watch, and just as bankable as men."
