Nicki Minaj and boyfriend Meek Mill have been the subject of a lot of hate ever since they came out in public about their relationship.

In the latest interview for GQ, however, the "Starship" singer addressed all the criticisms on their relationship, including the suggestion that they are faking it to be relevant.

"I think one of the biggest misconceptions at the beginning was that people thought that me and him just popped up out of the blue and were just in a relationship," she said. "We were friends for a very long time and he was someone that I was able to really confide in."

Nicki Minaj also said that she has always been very upfront about her relationships even before boyfriend Meek Mill came along. And she would stay that way even if she's with a new guy or not, even as she admitted that record companies and agents used to give undue pressure on their talents to deny their relationship status.

"The music industry is so different," Nicki Minaj said. "People don't care if you're in a relationship, but in the beginning it wasn't like that."

Meek Mill has found himself on the headlines owing to his feud with Drake who accused him of riding on the coattails of his more famous girlfriend by fronting her tour.

The feud started when Nicki Minaj's rumored fiancé accused Drizzy of not writing his own songs.

In response, Drake dropped two tracks, "Charged Up" and "Back to Back" which are long anthology of how Meek Mill is using Nicki Minaj to further his own career. Meanwhile, Meek Mill dropped a single of his own to diss the Canadian rapper.

On boyfriend Meek Mill, Nick Minaj said that her most favorite thing to do is kissing him.

"My favorite thing about Meek is kissing him, which is weird," she said. "Just now I was like 'damn, you've been asking can I kiss you a lot now,' and it's contagious because I used to be always asking him to kiss him when we first started talking. I love kissing him. I love the way his lips feel."
