Kangta To Release New Album For 1st Time In 8 Years

After performing on stage and acting in China, Kangta is finally returning to Korea to continue activities as a singer.

He is scheduled to release his fourth full-length album in January 2016 and will begin recording this month.

If everything goes as scheduled, this will be his first album since the release of "Eternity Forever" in 2008. 2016 will also mark the 20-year anniversary of his debut with H.O.T., which was a popular boy group in what is commonly known as the 'first idol generation.'

His solo album will be self-produced and will commemorate 20 years as a singer.

There have been previous announcements of Kangta's comeback album in the past, but those were not taken very seriously due to constant pushbacks. In December 2013, Kangta published a post on social media stating that "I will soon sing a new song on stage. Starting writing." However, the song never reached fruition.

Although Kangta has not released a recent solo track, he has still been performing as a singer. In October 2014, Kangta participated in minor activites as part of 3-member group "S", which consisted of him, Lee Ji-hoon and Shin Hye-sung. The group performed at SM Entertainment's concert "SMTOWN Live" earlier this year.

"Eternity Forever" was Kangta's final album before he entered the Korean military to complete his two-year mandatory military service requirement. Before that, he released a solo album titled "Persona" in 2005.
