G-Dragon's 'MichiGO' Receives High Praise From US Billboard

G-Dragon is just about as ubiquitous in the K-Pop industry as matching outfits and nicely quaffed hair. The BigBang leader is out on his first solo tour in four years and the world is definitely taking notice.

The rapper-singer-producer-fashion icon is always a prominent figure in the media for his popular songs and unrivaled on-stage persona, with millions of fans across the globe - but now even the US Billboard is taking notice.

Staff writer for Billboard, Jeff Benjamin, has extended his praise for the K-Pop idol, calling him both "charismatic" and "forward-thinking" and had nothing but positive things to say about the musician's latest single, "MichiGO."

Billboard commended the unprecedented promotion scheme for the single - which was released via a popular social media application, LINE, over the weekend. The strategy is playing up the popularity of the singer throughout Asia, as, on the day of its release, the single was only available to those who had uploaded the Korean, Japanese, or Thai versions of the app.

In his review of "MichiGO," Benjamin called the song "aggressive" and "catchy" with a powerful dubstep breakdown and went on to compare G-Dragon's delivery to that of Nicki Minaj.

In discussing the kickoff to the 2013 G-Dragon World Tour: One of a Kind at Seoul's Olympic Gymnastic Hall, Billboard noted the impressive singer "flaunted his fiery rap skills while he and his dancers partied in a storm of confetti."

It seems that in recent months the American view of K-Pop has been steadily changing and Billboard is finally catching up to what the rest of us have been saying for years. GD, and many others like him in the industry, are renaissance performers with more glitz and glam than anyone can imagine.
