'Assassination Classroom' Season 2 Release Date Confirmed For January

Koro-sensei is finally returning to his classroom. Sadly, the kids still have a lot of progress to make before they can kill him.

According to a report from Anime News Network, the "Assassination Classroom" release date has been confirmed for the 2016 winter season. Specifically, the new episodes will premiere in January and follow the class of 3E through their new semester.

For those worried about the series being exported outside of Japan, Funimation announced earlier this summer that they would once again stream the series on their website.

"It's official! New episodes of the zany, students-turned-badasses anime, Assassination Classroom coming to FUNimation in 2016," said Lauren on the official Funimation blog.

The first season of the "Assassination Classroom" anime series was directed by Seiji Kishi with screenplays by Makoto Uezu. Characters were designed by Kazuaki Morita with Music by Naoki Sato. Lerche handled the animation production. Yusei Matsui is the original creator of "Assassination Classroom."

In addition to the "Assassination Classroom" anime, the series was also adapted into a live action movie that premiered in Japan on March 21. A second live-action movie is planned for release sometime in spring 2016.

Viz Media, who is currently releasing the "Assassination Classroom" manga series outside of Japan, describes the story as follows:

"A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher-an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth-unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!"
