AOA Named Favorite Girl Group Among Korean Servicemen

AOA has won the hearts of soldiers with the girl group being voted as the favorite by more than 1,500 respondents, beating the likes of Girl's Day, Red Velvet and EXID.

AOA received 21.8% of the total votes cast in a recent military survey, reports Netizenbuzz, and was the clear leader. Girl's Day came in second with 15.9% votes, followed by Red Velvet (9.3%), Girls' Generation (9%), A Pink (8.3%) and EXID (8%).

In a subsequent question, the soldiers were asked which girl group member they would most like to be their girlfriend.

AOA member Seolhyun nabbed the top spot with 14.3%, reaching nearly double that of the second place, EXID's Hani at 7.9%. Rounding out the top 5 most desired girlfriend-material idol are Girl's Day's Hyeri (6.8%), AOA's Choa (6.7%) and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon (6.2%).

While the 1,500 respondents represented a cross-section of military units, one fan suggested that AOA's popularity stemmed from soldiers liking younger idols.

"I did my service when 'Gee' was at its height of fame and Girls' Generation was goddess level back then. Soldiers usually go for the dongsaeng (younger sibling) types than noonas (older sister), but it looks like Taeyeon is still popular," said one commenter.

As for Seolhyun's top ranking among soldiers, fans have been gushing over her pretty face and sexy body, but critics have been dismissing claims that she is becoming as popular as the likes of Suzy.

What do you think of the soldier rankings?
