Demi Lovato’s tweet urges 13 million of her followers to show off their beauty without makeup and led by example by posting a pic of herself, makeup-free! The star tweeted a photo of her without any beauty products applied Wednesday and encourages everyone who saw it to do the same.

A lot of her followers responded by sending her pics of themselves without makeup, with some of them gaining the attention of the “Heart Attack” singer. She offered props for all the naturally beautiful smiles, skins and more.

She tweeted in response to those who responded to her, “So many GORGEOUS faces. Not enough battery left on my phone!!!” A few short while, she tweeted, “Haha love you ALL!!!”

The LA Times commented that after her struggle with self-image, which eventually led to a 90-day stay at a rehabilitation facility in late 2010, it is good to see Demi Lovato to be very grounded and secure of her appearance. She later admitted to a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder, as well as treatment for eating disorders and cutting.

Lovato’s fresh-faced post was retweeted more than 70,000 times. Another pop star encouraging the all-natural look is Mariah Carey, who tweeted a picture of herself and received at least 500 retweets.
