FKA Twigs Opens Up In Paper Magazine Feature; Compares Her Fans To Taylor Swift’s ‘Swifties’

FKA Twigs opened up in her Paper magazine feature and compared her fans to Taylor Swift's "Swifties."

The eccentric singer was asked if she thinks her fan approach is different from that of the "Blank Space" pop star. The fiancé of Robert Pattinson was also asked about the widely followed Taylor Swift "squad" that many young girls want to be part of.

"I think Taylor Swift is great, but I wouldn't necessarily think, 'Oh my god, I have to be friends with her,'" FKA Twigs told Paper magazine.

"When I meet fans, they're quite creative and intelligent, kind, sensitive. Some are old ladies, witch doctors from Louisiana, kids that have just left art school. Gay or lesbian couples, straight middle-aged couples."

The British singer explained how her outspoken personality attracts fans that are different from those of mainstream stars.

"I'm honest, and that comes out," FKA Twigs said.

"Honest people come in lots of different types and they relate to things that aren't straightforward. I'm happy that people can roll with me, give me a chance, and let me explain my songs through my visuals."

"I don't even like calling fans 'fans.' It's just people that like your music," she added.

Prior to FKA Twigs' Paper magazine feature, the bi-racial musician narrated in a BBC Radio One interview how she stands up against die-hard fans of Robert Pattinson who don't like her.

"Ultimately I'm 10 times stronger than somebody hiding behind a weird name on Twitter," the bride-to-be said.

"I wanted to show that I can stand up for myself so then hopefully another person will see that and want to stand up for themselves."

In a feature for NME, Robert Pattinson himself defended FKA Twigs from online bullies who have been against their relationship.

"It's just demons who live in basements," the movie star said about bullies.

"You have this weird thing where you end up trying to fight against this faceless blob, where the more you hate it, the bigger it gets, because it's all in your head."
