Kim Bum Cast As Martial Arts Legend Bruce Lee In Upcoming Chinese Drama

Rising young actor Kim Bum has signed on to play the iconic martial arts master Bruce Lee in the Chinese drama Yip Man and Bruce Lee, reports Allkpop.

Kim Bum's agency King Kong Entertainment, confirmed the new acting gig, and said the actor will be flying out to China later this month to begin filming for the drama.

"For his next work, Kim Bum has selected Chinese drama Yip Man and Bruce Lee. He showed off his colors in Korea in the first half of this year but for the second half, he will be focusing on promotions in China, continuing a wide array of activities," King Kong Entertainment reportedly said.

The agency was referring to Kim Bum's most recent Korean drama Secret Identity in which he played as Cha Gun Woo, an elite undercover homicide detective scarred by the death of his girlfriend. Secret Identity aired on the cable network TvN from June to August.

Not only popular in Korea, Kim Bum is also building quite a fan base in China. Earlier this year, he starred in the Korean-Chinese mystery romance film The Beloved opposite Chinese actress Wang Li and Taiwanese actor Joe Cheng. The film was shown at the fifth Beijing International Film Festival.
