Manny Pacquiao Rated Better Than Floyd Mayweather Jr. By Boxing Analyst Larry Merchant

The debate on who is the best boxer in the world will never end as everyone have their own bets on who deserves that title.

For instance, commentator Larry Merchant believes undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best, but there is someone better.

For Merchant, Manny Pacquiao is the one deserving of that title and here's why:

''I think Floyd is one of the best fighters of his time and that's all you can really know about a fighter. People have asked me this question a lot and I say, well I think Floyd is the best pure boxer of his time and Pacquiao is the best fighter," Merchant said in The News Hub.

Some might find this confusing as Mayweather was able to take care of Pacquiao in their May 2 fight. But, the boxer style is what dictates the greatness of a boxer. Mayweather, with all the running and avoiding punches, made him look less impressive compared to Pacquiao's sheer strength and speed.

He also believes that Mayweather will come out of his retirement to make it 50-0.

"I think the general feeling is that he'll try to come out and win his 50th if somebody emerges who can generate a third as much as the last fight," said Merchant.

He also believes that the fighter likely fighting the American for his 50th is Pacquiao, unless gets defeated by someone in 2016.

"Maybe it's Pacquiao if he can go out and beat somebody really good or maybe it's somebody who goes out and beats Pacquiao really good... But if somebody emerges I guess the conventional wisdom is yes, Mayweather will give it a go for a 9-figure pay day."
